Get Involved: Why Volunteering Is So Important
(And 3 Ministries That Need Your Help)
We all head to the Parkway Church campus every week for service. The social interactions are stimulating, the service is inspiring, and a drink in the café is a sweet way to top off the morning, isn’t it? ☕
But aren’t we ultimately going to church to serve God and work to further His kingdom? So, the question is, what exactly are each of us called to do and what is the best way to get involved?

THE CHURCH IS “SHORT STAFFED”
Sometimes connecting with God is simply partaking in the service: Praising, listening to God’s message, and earnestly seeking God. Having the ability to attend the service is a blessing, but we know it doesn’t happen without the sacrifices of others.
In a Sunday Morning service, Pastor Tim preached a message titled, “Short Staffed.”
Businesses around the country have become accustomed to having too few resources and they’re trying to adapt to having too few workers – but we have to be counterculture to this world.
We cannot allow too few workers to impact the reach of God’s good works, right? The Bible tells us about how God intends for us to work and serve:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Pastor Tim challenged us to figure out how we can support the mission and be used of God. Why not start by volunteering where there’s a need?
3 PARKWAY MINISTRIES THAT NEED VOLUNTEERS – STAT!
The truth is, pretty much every ministry could benefit from more volunteers. It really is a disservice to name only a few ministries that need your help, but to give you an idea of where to start, here are three ministry areas of Parkway’s Dream Team that need volunteers.
KIDZ PARKWAY
Kidz Parkway is part of our family ministries department and is always in need of more volunteers. This ministry works to engage our children – from infant through 5th grade – every Sunday morning.
Having a fully staffed Sunday school ensures first and foremost that parents and guests are able to fully focus on worshipping and hearing God’s word.
But our volunteers are doing much more than simply watching kids while their parents enjoy in the service. We want to captivate our children and build a spiritual foundation that reaches well past the years of Sunday School!
Having fully staffed Kidz Parkway department allows us to be more intentional about teaching. It makes room for Sunday school staff to dream up projects and activities that excite and fascinate those kids.
SERVICE PRODUCTION TEAM
Isn’t it great when the atmosphere and experience during the services is on point? You can thank the service production team for that!
Production members include those in photography, sound, lighting, projection, and video, all of which directly impact the service. This is a ministry that affects the first impression and overall service experience for our members and our treasured guests.
This team also works to allow the Word of God to reach past our church walls through live feeds, recorded services, and social media sites.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
Parkway’s mission is to love God, love others, and love mission. Our outreach ministry is always working to reach the world with the good news, but it’s in need of volunteers.
Willing to teach or host a bible study? What about a small group gathering during the week? These are opportunities for us to reach people that are unfamiliar with our faith or who are unable to attend Sunday morning service and need to know more about God.
With additional volunteers, these ministries are able to reach out into people’s lives, build relationships, and provide more ways for them to experience the love of God.
