Introducing "Bridge": Parkway's Newest Outreach Ministry!
Every connection starts with a bridge — a way to reach what was once out of reach. That’s the heart behind Parkway’s newest outreach ministry, Bridge. This ministry is all about stepping outside the church walls to bring the love of Jesus into our community in a tangible, personal way. Soon, we’ll be building our very first bridge at Meadowmere & Mitchell Manor senior living community!
At Parkway, our purpose is simple yet powerful: Love: God. Others. Mission. Through Bridge, we’re living out that mission by intentionally showing up where people are and meeting them in their everyday lives with compassion, prayer, and hope. This ministry isn’t just about a visit or an event. It’s about connection. It’s about being a light in the lives of others and offering the love of God that changes hearts and restores hope.
What Is “Bridge”?
Bridge is an outreach ministry designed to connect Parkway Church with local senior living and rehabilitation facilities, beginning with Meadowmere. The name says it all: our mission is to build bridges between our church family and our neighbors in these facilities, connecting hearts through fellowship, prayer, and encouragement.
On the fourth Sunday of every month, members of Parkway’s Dream Team will visit Meadowmere to live stream our Sunday morning service and bring Parkway to the facility. Our volunteers will worship with the residents, listen to the message with them, and will be given an opportunity to pray with them, minister to them, and build relationships.
Every Bridge visit is an opportunity to serve, listen, and share the gospel in a way that feels warm and personal. Many residents in these communities face loneliness or isolation, but through Bridge, we can bring joy and spiritual companionship directly to them.
But Bridge isn’t just for the residents. It’s also a ministry to the staff members who care for them day in and day out. These caregivers often pour out so much of themselves, and our visits provide a moment of spiritual refreshment and encouragement. Whether it’s a smile, a prayer, or a conversation, our goal is to make every person we encounter feel loved and valued.
By establishing a consistent presence at Meadowmere and other future locations, Bridge embodies Parkway’s mission of loving God and others through serving. When we serve, we are living out the words of Jesus:
“Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Matthew 25:40).
Parkway’s Mission to Reach Our Community
Outreach has always been central to Parkway’s mission. We believe the church is called not only to gather but also to go — to reach people right where they are. Every outreach event, from community happenings to care visits, is rooted in our desire to impact our city with love, kindness, and the life-changing message of the gospel.
Through ministries like Bridge, we are carrying out the heartbeat of Christ’s command: “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15). That command doesn’t only mean distant nations. It means our own neighborhoods, our local care homes, and the people we pass every day.
And the beauty of outreach is that it transforms both those who receive and those who serve. As we love others, we grow in our understanding of God’s heart. As we show compassion, our own faith deepens. That’s the kind of impact Parkway wants to see — a ripple effect of love that begins with one small act of kindness and spreads throughout our community.
How You Can Get Involved In “Bridge”
If your heart is stirred to make a difference in our community, Bridge is an incredible place to start. This ministry thrives on people who are willing to show up, smile, listen, and love. Volunteers are needed to connect with residents and staff members at Meadowmere, offering prayer, conversation, and connection.
Maybe you’re gifted in conversation, or perhaps you’re someone who finds joy in simply sitting with others. Whether you’re outgoing or quiet, young or seasoned, there’s a place for you in Bridge. What matters most is a heart that’s willing to serve.
Each visit is more than a schedule slot — it’s a ministry moment. Every time we walk into Meadowmere, we want carry the light of Christ with us. Through Bridge, we can let that light shine brightly in a place that needs it most.
If you feel called to be part of this new outreach ministry, we invite you to fill out a ministry application on the Church Center app. This helps our team get you connected, trained, and ready to serve.
Building Bridges of Hope
As Bridge launches soon at Meadowmere, our prayer is that it becomes more than just a program. We pray that it becomes a movement of compassion flowing from Parkway into our city. We believe God will use every conversation, every song, and every prayer to touch lives and draw people closer to him.
Let’s pray that this ministry will truly bridge the gap between the Church and those who need to feel God’s love. Pray for the residents, for the staff, and for every volunteer who steps into this calling. Together, we can make a difference —one visit, one prayer, one connection at a time.
So, will you join us? Help us build a bridge of hope, faith, and love. Because when we love God, others, and mission, incredible things happen.
