Five Apostolic Podcasts to Add to Your Listening Routine

Whether you’re commuting, working out, or doing chores around the house, podcasts can provide encouragement, challenge your leadership skills, or deepen your theological knowledge. However, it’s important to choose the right podcast – rooted in biblical truth and apostolic doctrine.

With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of five apostolic podcasts you can start listening to right now!

1. The Restorationist

One personal recommendation of Pastor Tim’s is The Restorationist. Its goal is to help you increase capacity. The podcast asks what it means to follow Jesus in the 21st century while embodying the values, theology and heart of the first century church. Host Adam Shaw explores those answers by examining big ideas about life, culture, leadership, preaching and growing the church. The Restorationist features solo shows, interviews with other apostolic leaders, Q&A, and preaching. Recent episodes are entitled “How to Have a Healthy Mind,” “How to Manage the Pressure of Growth,” and “5 Components of a High Capacity Leader.” Adam is the executive pastor with his wife Stephanie at Lifepoint Church in Ontario, Canada.

2. Apostolic Life in the 21st Century

Hosted by the UPCI’s general superintendent Dr. David Bernard, Apostolic Life in the 21st Century is another personal recommendation of Pastor Tim’s. This podcast is dedicated to helping modern-day believers live out the teachings of the first century church. The episodes are short, making them perfect to listen to while on a walk or picking up around the house. They answer questions any apostolic believer may have, such as “what is Christian liberty?” and “is work part of Adam’s curse?” Dr. Bernard founded New Life Church in Austin, Texas and is the author of 37 books on apostolic doctrine.

3. Dear Young Married Couple

Too often, marriage advice is generic and uninspiring, setting young couples on a path to “just get by.” Dear Young Married Couple seeks to shift that narrative by helping you cultivate a marriage that’s intimate, adventurous, and purposeful. Coach-therapist team Adam and Karissa King interview couples, pastors, and therapists, providing Christian insights on communication, sex, finances, parenting, trust, and mental health. Recent episodes feature topics such as working through your past, having sex after age 50, and understanding your attachment style. Karissa holds an MA in counseling psychology and a PhD in theology and biblical interpretation and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. Adam has a master’s in philosophy and Christian apologetics and is a certified life coach. Along with their weekly podcast, they help couples and individuals through their counseling services.

4. Unedited with Meg Najera

Daily Bible reading and prayer is undoubtably a staple of the Christian life, yet it can feel so hard to maintain. However, host Meg Najera knows its transforming power well. At a very low point in her life, she committed to daily Bible reading, prayer, and journaling and over the years she found hope and healing in her Savior and Best Friend[NH1] . Each Friday Meg shares tips to help you develop and enjoy those daily habits, as well as an unedited personal journal entry. She also features interviews with other apostolic leaders and preachers. Meg serves with her husband at Christian Life Church in Mequon, Wisconsin.

5. The Youth Room

Podcasts aren’t just for adults! The Youth Room is a podcast for students and young adults from the UPCI Youth Ministries. Every month, hosts Daniel and Jordan talk about relevant topics for young apostolics navigating an ever-changing world. Recent episodes are entitled “Heaven or Hell?”, “Talking to Jesus”, and “SparkNotes on The Gospel.” Daniel and Jordan serve as youth pastors at Lifepoint Church in Ontario, Canada.

Whether you check out one or all of these, committing to one of these podcasts will surely aid your spiritual and personal development! Press ‘play’ while you’re cleaning your house, commuting to work, or even while you’re taking the dog for a walk! They are all available on your favorite podcast app.

Today, we must be able to practically live out and biblically support our doctrinal positions, not simply say, ‘My church teaches.’ I want to be an individual who lives out my faith in a manner that is consistent with first-century passion, credibility and transformational authority while at the same time being relevant to the time I have been called to. We must take ownership of this great truth which has been given to us, never forgetting that the greatest privilege we have is to represent God and His love for His creation.
