Vacation Bible School 2025: Here’s How Kidz Parkway Is Making a Difference This Summer
Get ready, Parkway—Vacation Bible School (VBS) is almost here, and we couldn’t be more excited! VBS is one of the most impactful and energetic ways we can invest in our kids during the summer months. Not only does it give children something to look forward to during the break from school, but it plants godly principles deep into their hearts through fun, worship, and hands-on experiences.
Heather Miller, Kidz Parkway Coordinator and leader of this year’s VBS, shared her heart for the program: “Our goal through VBS is to engage kids in their faith, draw them closer to Jesus, and reach our community, our neighbors, and our friends. Even for the kids who only come to Kidz Parkway occasionally, this gives them a chance to connect over multiple days.” She added, “Ultimately, it’s to grow kids in their faith and bring them closer to Jesus.”
About Parkway’s VBS 2025
VBS is a four-day kids’ program taking place next week, July 16-19. It’s packed with worship, Bible lessons, and excitement that makes God’s Word come alive. This year’s theme, “True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World,” is designed to help kids discover that they can trust Jesus no matter what life throws their way. Whether they’re feeling scared, lonely, or unsure of what’s next, Jesus is the one they can always turn to.
“It’s our hope through every single day of VBS that this is reinforced,” Heather explained. “We want these kids to leave the week realizing Jesus is always the answer.”
Each day, kids will rotate through several themed stations that bring the daily Bible point to life.
A Music and Song station where they’ll worship loud and proud.
A Bible Adventure Station that teaches them stories from Scripture.
At Imagination Station, kids dive into science experiments that creatively reinforce the biblical truths they’re learning.
The Sticky Scripture station includes snacks that tie in with a verse of the day.
Outside on the field, they’ll have time to be loud and energetic with fun and crazy games.
“For Crew Leaders, when you get to travel around with the kids, you see that every single thing they experienced today reinforces the lesson,” Heather said. “It’s really cool that it’s all cohesive.” She also mentioned that by the end of the week, the kids are always asking, “Can we come back tomorrow?” This tells you just how much these little hearts are soaking it all in.
The Team Behind VBS
Behind every amazing VBS experience is a team of selfless, creative, and hard-working volunteers, and Parkway is bringing the best of the best this year. Around 80 volunteers will be serving on site throughout the four-day program. Each station leader has been crafting their curriculum, designing decor, and preparing their areas for weeks (some even months) leading up to VBS.
The behind-the-scenes efforts don’t stop there. Parkway’s Legacy Group — a small group made up of mostly of retired seniors whose goal is to leave a legacy for the next generation — has poured their time and talents into making VBS a success. They’ve spent the last month prepping materials, assembling decorations, and doing all the little things that make a big impact on the next generation.
“Our Sunday school teachers and Kidz Parkway leaders have also stepped up,” Heather shared. “We actually also had about eight parents who signed up to help with anything needed beforehand, preparation-wise, so it’s been an all hands on deck situation.”
A Walk Down VBS Memory Lane…
If you’ve been part of Parkway’s VBS before, you know that this isn’t our first VBS rodeo, and the stories from years past are just as powerful. Two years ago, we launched Pets Unleashed, where kids got to learn biblical truths through fun, animal-themed activities — including meeting live animals!
Four years ago, Parkway hosted Wilderness Escape Kids Camp, a deeply immersive VBS experience where kids traveled in Old Testament-style tribes and had face-to-face encounters with characters like Moses, experiencing miracles and learning Scripture through hands-on storytelling.
Heather says the joy isn’t just in the activities — it’s in the relationships. “It’s amazing to see kids connecting with each other — both Parkway kids and kids from the community.” She added, “We’ve heard from parents of guests that their kids feel so welcome, and we’ve definitely had people come back and visit and check us out on Sundays as well.”
VBS is more than a kids’ event. It’s a ministry that makes a lasting difference in families.
What Can YOU Do to Support This Year’s VBS?
Parkway, our VBS volunteer team and our little attendees need your support, and there are a few simple but powerful ways you can make a difference this week.
First, invite a family in your neighborhood or community! Whether you know a single parent looking for summer activities or a family that’s been curious about Parkway, this is a great opportunity to connect them to the church. Walk-in registrations will be welcomed, so it’s not too late for families to jump in.
Second, and most importantly, pray.
Pray for the volunteers who will be leading and loving on these kids.
Pray for every child who steps onto our campus — that their little hearts would be open to the presence of God.
Pray for their families, that this VBS would be a seed that leads to greater things in their lives.
Above all, pray that God’s will would be done during VBS 2025. We believe these four days can shape eternity for someone, and that’s worth every ounce of effort, every minute of preparation, and every prayer lifted up.
Let’s cover this week in prayer and expectation. Let’s support our teams. Let’s invite our community.
Let’s point the next generation to True North — Jesus.
